A chronicle of the revolution in real time

An independent publication about how AI is reshaping economies, institutions and individual lives. It runs six programmes: The Themes, a weekly review; The People, long interviews; The Choices, decision guides; The Second Look, standing debates; The Metrics, a sixteen-country index; and Courses. It is made by Karim Galzahr and Dr Sven Jungmann, with Liam and Kellan Galzahr, who are named on the About page.

Karim Galzahr, an investor and economist with a working command of physics and statistics, and Dr Sven Jungmann, an AI entrepreneur who holds a public-policy degree from the University of Oxford and originally trained and practised as a physician. They work without hierarchy, and each has a page here with the full biography. Liam and Kellan Galzahr also work on the publication; the About page says what they do.

It recalls the Atomic Age, the last time we built a technology powerful enough to reorder civilisation. That period had a flaw: the deliberation happened behind closed doors, and the people who understood it best were the least free to speak. The public inherited the outcome instead of the argument. The name is a commitment to doing this examination in the open.

AI is an accelerant, not a sole cause. It acts on societies whose machinery for converting effort into a job, a home, a family and a sense that the work is worth doing was already under strain. Those conditions multiply rather than add. The technology changes the speed; the conditions and the choices set the destination. The framework page sets out the reasoning and what would count against it.

No, and it does not claim to be. We are committed to free societies and the rule of law, to peace, to individual freedom, to solidarity that leaves nobody behind in a transition, and to the stewardship of the planet. Those commitments are stated rather than hidden. They are not a party line: we publish what the evidence supports whether we like it or not.

From Europe, for readers everywhere. The vantage is part of the method. The index is built from the position of democratic middle powers, whose dependencies on other people's compute, chips, energy and rules are part of their condition rather than a footnote to it. That is a different view of this era from the one available in Washington or Beijing.
